It is estimated that there are more than 450,000 silo bags, which means around 70% of the harvest. These stored grains are valued annually at US$22 billion, distributed throughout the country and exposed to vandalism and theft. SiloReal's product, together with Río Uruguay Seguros insurance, aims to protect them from vandalism.

Vandalism against silo bags is a recurring problem that affects both producers and the agricultural industry, causing economic losses and damaging food security.

In 2023, there were over 300 reports of silo bag breakages in different rural societies in the province of Santa Fe. These acts of vandalism are compounded by other unavoidable damages such as storms, fires, animals, and more.

Currently in Argentina, over 450,000 silo bags are used, meaning that 70% of the harvest is stored temporarily. These stored grains are valued annually at US$22 billion, distributed throughout the country and exposed to vandalism and theft.

The motives behind these acts may vary, but this situation has a significant economic impact on producers, directly affecting their temporarily stored crops and creating an atmosphere of insecurity in the agricultural community.

To prevent this from happening, Espartina S.A., a long-standing family agricultural company, has insured their stored grains in silo bags from the last season remotely and at a low rate with Río Uruguay Seguros (RUS) using SiloReal.

This way, they were able to access SiloReal Protection for their silo bags, which also enables access to credit through a specific line.

Delfín Uranga, CEO and co-founder of the service, commented: "With SiloReal, each silo bag has its identity, becoming unique, visible, and traceable because it has documentation of the assembly of the silo bag and the digitalization of the information at the source. All of this facilitates and improves the process to ensure the temporary storage of grains anywhere in the country. Additionally, in the case of Espartina, it also helps to monitor their stock in real time through the platform."

Marcelo Carrique, Director of Espartina S.A., explains: "For us, using the SiloReal service has been a great solution. Knowing the identification of each silo bag facilitates our management processes and provides us with the possibility of accessing insurance with RUS in a simple, fast, and with a low administrative cost. The latter makes a difference for both our peace of mind and that of the insurance company."

María Ducret, Leading Coordinator of Rus Agro, details: "We have found in SiloReal an innovative and agile solution in the offer of insuring such an important capital as a silo bag in the field. SiloReal generates a certificate of existence and status for each silo bag, making an insurable asset visible that was previously cumbersome to insure."

SiloReal is the first Latin American startup to offer a comprehensive solution to agricultural producers to make the stored grain in silo bags profitable through the use of technology. Today, the company has over 50 clients, 221 establishments, and more than one million tons of grains monitored in productive areas of Brazil and Argentina.
